Bits on Pitching

By motle March 5th, 2008

  • Jose Contreras is throwing well with new arm angle. His fastball was clocked between 91 and 93 MPH on Tuesday. We’re now expecting a comeback season for Jose.

  • Ryan Dempster threw an impressive 3 innings, he attacked hitters by throwing strikes.

  • Japanese import Hiroki Kuroda pitched decently in his second start of the spring, he did get into some trouble after allowing a hit and two walks to open the 2nd frame. Like many imports, his pitches are deceiving, so he’ll certainly have the upper hand early on.

  • Jesse Litsch who is attempting to secure a #5 slot for the Jays, struggled a bit in his 2 innings of work against the Yankees. Although he only gave up 3 hits in 2 Innings, it took him an suboptimal 44 pitches.

  • So much for Anthony Reyes impressive start last week, yesterday he was lit up by the Orioles to the tune of 6 hits and 4 runs over just 2 innings. He needed 60 pitches to get through the 2nd frame!
