Second Base BITS

Top Second Basemen

Traditionally, second base fantasy players have been the weakest of all positions. After Utley it become a hodge-podge get who you can. If you don’t get the top dog here, then wait and get someone later. I am going to list my Top 5 and then 5 others. Along with each player will be my projections for the 2008 season for runs/hits/hr/rbi/sb .

  1. Chase Utley- 121/186/33/1112/14 This guy is the real deal. A 5 tool player or at least a 4.5 tool player that is on a great team for his offensive abilities. To be sandwiched in between Rollins and Howard is a dream. Utley should be owned on every team you have.

2. Brian Roberts- 100/183/15/71/51 If Roberts get traded to the Cubs as rumored, grab him. His value has increased. Hi s numbers go up and he is in with Ramirez, Soriano and DLee. Numbers look good.

3. BJ Upton 101/158/26/86/ 39 Upton can also be used as an outfield which helps with the daily lineup. Breakout years and BJ Upton are being clamored all over the fantasy sites. Bits believe it is just another year for Upton. But another year means some very good numbers.

4. Brandon Phillips 92/160/21/83/26 Not a big fan of his psyche but we don’t draft on that. Phillips could/should put up decent numbers on a below average team. Watch for the Dusty factor. If he has a problem early, his numbers plummet.

5. Cano Robinson 87/177/18/84/4 Nothing jumps out here for Robinson. Which Yankee player will show up. Always a daily soap opera in the Bronx.

The best or the Rest….

Ian Kinsler

Dan Uggla
